GREEN TEA: The PG Tips Monkey wil be in Abergavenny GREEN TEA: The PG Tips Monkey wil be in Abergavenny

PG TIPS character Monkey, pictured, will be making an appearance in Abergavenny today and on Friday.

He will be at Hillside at noon, on the green, and on Friday in Charles Crescent at the same time.

The tea company’s mascot is helping residents with their weekly food recycling collections, in partnership with Monmouthshire Council and Waste Awareness Wales.

Free hot dogs and cups of tea will be available, as well as a toss-the-tea bag competition and children’s activities.

Cookery demonstrations with ideas on how to save money and reduce food waste will be on offer, while Monmouthshire’s recycling and waste team will give advice and hand out replacement bags and bins.

Cabinet member for operations Bryan Jones said: “By holding these outdoor events close to people’s homes and by taking the time to talk and listen over a cup of tea, we hope that we will see a real improvement in recycling participation in these areas.”
