Appeal after knifeman robs Pontnewydd store
A MANHUNT has been launched after a man armed with a knife threatened a woman and demanded money in a Pontnewydd shop yesterday afternoon.
Gwent police said the man entered the Richmond Stores on Richmond Road, at around 5pm, demanded money from the female employee and got away with cash.
He is in his early thirties, balding, about five feet ten inches tall and of stocky build.
He was wearing blue jeans, black hooded top, black gloves and a black scarf that he wore over his face. He was holding a knife that is described as a kitchen knife. He is believed to have left via Russell Street, New Street and then into the park off Brooklands Terrace.
The female employee was uninjured.
If anyone has information or may have seen anything suspicious they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
