A SHOP selling vintage clothes is set to open in Griffithstown after outgrowing its current premises within less than a year of opening.

The Emily Rose Vintage store currently operates from Ventnor Road, Cwmbran, after being launched last September by Liz Prosser.

Previously, the 33-yearold sold vintage clothes and accessories as a hobby, picking them herself from around the UK at fairs.

She said she has always dressed in a unique style, and takes style tips from celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Paloma Faith.

But in the store, she said she also tries to offer more wearable items.

The Griffithstown mother- of-three decided to take the plunge and leave her job with Newport council and turn her hobby into her full-time career.

Mrs Prosser said: “My house was being taken over by stock, so it has been good to have a premises to sell from.

“The last few months have been really good and the business has really taken off in Cwmbran.

“But I want to expand the business, so have decided to move to a bigger premises.”

The store will be relocating to Windsor Road in Griffithstown.

And it will now offer made-to-measure services after Mrs Prosser hired tailor Moira Pritchard.

Mrs Prosser added: “If clients want something special and have an idea, then we can custom-make their perfect outfit.

“In the new premises, I will also specialise in couture and vintage occasion wear.”

The store will feature the shop’s own-label clothes range, Emily Rose, vintage clothes, and clothes from suppliers Lindy Bop and Vivien of Holloway.

Sophie Jones will also be running 1940s hair and make-up tutorials and vintage makeover classes at the shop.

The store has its official opening tomorrow.
