POPULAR umpire Pat Baker, pictured, has been re-appointed as chairman of Monmouth Cricket Club, writes Ian Morgan.

The former player was the unanimous choice of club members at last week's annual general meeting in the pavilion at Chippenham Sports Ground.

Baker is looking forward to his second year at the helm, and will once again be backed up by Jon Despontin (vice-chairman), Mike Roberts (secretary) and David Williams (treasurer).

Dan Head was re-elected as first team captain, and will be supported in the new season by David Teague, who replaces Jonathan Roberts as first team vice-captain.

Martin Newell re-mains as second team captain and will again be supported by Despon-tin, who is also the youth development officer and Worc-estershire County League representative.

Rick Parkes has been voted in as Sunday team captain, and will be joined by Chris Brooks, as Sunday team vice-captain. Tony Sully has been re-elected as the promotions officer, while the club is now looking to fill the new membership secretary's post.

Monmouth's treasurer Wil-liams reported that the club's finances were in a healthy position and former player John Wigmore was re-elected as club president.

Pat Baker and Mike Roberts have also been chosen as the cricket club's representatives on the Monmouth Sports Association.
