VOLUNTEERS are needed to help make this year’s artwork for the Abergavenny Food Festival.
Each year, in the run up to the festival, the organisers, together with the community arts organisations, Arts Alive, hold workshops to create the eye-catching designs that hang from the rafters of the Market Hall during the festival.
Last year’s colourful leaping hares and games birds were admired by thousands of festival visitors.
This year’s theme is ‘Gardens of Plenty’ and draws on inspiration from the county’s rich heritage of gardens, allotments and seasonal harvest.
Funded by Monmouthshire council, the display will also feature garden tools and garden produce.
Volunteers don’t need experience, but textile, painting and sculpting skills are an advantage.
The workshops, led by designers Bettina Reeves, Susan McComb and Andrea Newton Mills, take place at Arts Alive, Crickhowell, between 9.30am and 5.30pm from August 21 to September 18, excluding Thursdays and Sundays.
