A CWMBRAN chippy showed it really is the plaice to be when it was named as one of the UK’s best independent fish and chip restaurants in The 2014 National Fish and Chip Awards.
Page’s Fish and Chips has fried its way into the final of a national competition to be crowned the best independent fish and chip restaurant of the year.
Owned by Jonathan Page, Page’s Fish and Chips will now hope to batter the two other finalists - Poppies Fish and Chips in Spitalfields, London, and Quayside in Whitby, North Yorkshire - before heading to London in January 2014 for an awards ceremony hosted by Michelin-starred celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli.
Mr Page said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be in the final as it’s our first entry in the category.
“The restaurant arm of the business has only been open for two years so reaching the final of a national award is a massive achievement for us.
“We try to keep things fresh with seasonal menus and fish that you wouldn’t traditionally find in a fish and chip restaurant like tuna, swordfish and hake.”
