TORFAEN Council's trading standards service is warning residents to be aware of a company, cold-calling people and claiming that they are working with Welsh Water.

Residents have experienced a fraud caller claiming that they are conducting a survey in order to see if they are entitled to a refund/rebate.

The company mention sewage, quality of water and overpayment of bills.

People are then asked details of their bills and told they are due a refund/rebate.

It is then explained that in order for the company to carry out an investigation the consumer would need to make a payment upfront. They are then asked for personal and credit/debit card details.

Residents should be aware that Welsh Water is currently not working with any company offering this service.
