A 98-YEAR-OLD woman competing in an Abersychan skittles league has won player of the year title .

Letta Lloyd won the honour for the fourth year running in the league at the Ty Bryn Care Home in High Street, Abersychan.

Eric Parfitt, 90, was runner up, missing out by one point on the top spot.

The league has players ranging in age from 80 to 98, and is celebrating another successful year of matches.

The league is made up of 12 residents at the care home, who split into two teams and runs for six weeks.

The team captain for the A team was Josie Ricahrds, 84, and the captain of the B team was Lillian Ashman, 91.

This year’s winners were the A team, who scored 292 points, while the B team scored 246.
