UP TO 20 new jobs will be created as an outdoor activity company plans to opens its doors in Pontypool.

Outdoor activity specialist Welsh Games, who caters for stag and hen groups, birthday parties, corporate events, has started taking bookings for its first Welsh site on Newport Road in New Inn.

The company, which offers a variety of Welsh-themed outdoor games, plans to open its doors to visitors in April but has started taking bookings now.

It will be seeking to take on part-time employees, creating up to 20 jobs at peak times in the season between March and October annually.

Welsh Games is the brainchild of childhood friends Simon Sucksmith and Jamie Weber, and is the second venture for the expanding outdoor activity specialists.

The company’s first venture, West Country Games in Bristol, attracted more than 6,000 visitors in 2013.

Director Mr Weber said: “We were looking for a suitable venue to host our second site, and with so many connections to Wales via friends and family, we realised that the next logical step was to create Welsh Games to tap into a whole new audience.”
