A TEENAGER from CWMBRAN has hopes of appearing on Britain’s Got Talent to kick start a music career.

Sizwe Chitiyo, 15, is currently studying at Croesyceiliog School, but has found time to learn to play the guitar and begin writing his own songs.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Sizwe, moved to the UK about 12 year ago, and says that his style is inspired by African music that helps to create something different.

He said: “Music has always been one of my most enjoyable lessons.

“My favourite musicians are Bastille, Ed Sheeran, Passenger, Dr Dre, Lorde, Jessie J and genres such as R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, Alternative Rock and acoustic.”

He started to perfect his talents from April last year, when, for his 15 birthday, he received a guitar as a gift.

He set about teaching himself to play and wrote his first song a week after receiving the present.

He said: “I have now written five songs and have been a guest on Radio Cardiff, who has now asked me to come back and perform on their show.”

Sizwe is now looking to perform in the local community after receiving positive feedback from those who have seen him perform.

He said: “I’m also hoping to apply for Britain’s Got Talent. Everyone is always shocked when they hear that I’m only 15 and just started playing.”

Sizwe will also be stepping into a recording studio in the coming months to record his songs.
