A HORROR writer from New Inn is enjoying success as his books top the Amazon book charts.

David Sharp, 43 is in the process of writing his final book in The Dust Trilogy with hopes of it being released in the spring.

This will be the fourth book written by Mr Sharp over the last few years which have all been released as e-books on the internet.

The books have all made it into the top 10 of the charts on Amazon under Post-Apocalyptic and Horror genres.

Mr Sharp grew up in New Inn and went to Croesyceiliog Comprehensive School but moved away from the area about 17 years ago and now lives near Cardiff.

He began writing as a hobby about four years ago and said that he is proud of how well his books have done.

Mr Sharp is busy running his own business – he is a stonemason by trade – but he said that it was “always in the back of his mind to start writing novels”.

He was influenced by authors such as James Herbert and John Christopher, who made him want to write horror and thriller novels as he grew up reading this style of genre.

South Wales has a strong presence in all his books and he says that it will continue to do so in all of his future books.

He added: “It is important to get it on the map in any way we can.’’

Now that he has built up a small but ever-growing fan-base, he said that he will continue to write novels of the same nature.

Describing how each of his books is doing better than the last, he said he is excited for his future works.

He added: “Who knows where it could go.”
