A GWENT drug dealer has been sent to jail.
Telford Rees, 28, of Blenheim Court, Cwmbran, was sentenced to serve two years and four months in prison for possession with intent to supply heroin and LSD, and possession of an offensive weapon at Cardiff Crown Court on January 6.
Rees was first stopped in his car in the Victoria area of Newport, following information received from the public.
When he was searched, officers found heroin and an old-style wooden truncheon.
His home was searched and further drug paraphernalia were discovered as well as a number of LSD tablets.
Analysis of his mobile phone showed that he was involved in the supply of these drugs in Newport.
Rees claimed his role in the supply of drugs was minimal, but when the case came to court he changed his mind and pleaded guilty.
A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “It sends the message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in Newport”.
