THE January talk for U3A Chepstow was given by Sarah Sawyer, who presented a talk on 'The work of the AONB'. There was a lot of interest in how they are preserving our environment.

Our meeting on February 4th at 2.30 in the Drill Hall, Chepstow will include a talk by John Clarke, entitled 'China and the West: past history and future prospects'. John Clarke is Professor Emeritus in the History of Ideas and has taught at various universities.

His main interest has been in inter-cultural philosophy and he has published a number of books, with The Encounter between Asian and Western thought' having been transalated into Chinese. He runs the Tintern Philosophy Circle, which meets monthly.
