No sign of the real important ones here then, I.e. The children and their educational attainment. It is sad when teachers place themselves above the pupils that they teach but gives an insight into the NUT mindset.Good grief - get a grip. It's a one day strike. It's not as if it'll bring down civilisation as we know it. But yes, you're right. How dare one of the last bastions of unionism in this country attempt to stand up for themselves. As a parent, I support the strikes. I want the teachers of my children to be happy in their work. I want the education establishment to retain the best minds for the task. Seems strange to me that obscene salaries for senior civil servants can be justified on that basis, yet when the 'lower orders' flex their muscles to demand fair treatment, they get vilified. Frankly, I don't think the NUT is going far enough to fight the teachers' corner - they could bring the country to its knees with sustained action.I would have more sympathy towards the teachers if they chose to hold a massive protest on one of their many holidays - during a half term, during a summer long break or even one of the many inset days. This would not inconvenience parents or cause parents to lose money if they need to take the day off and it would also show how much support the teachers are actually giving to their cause" Your name Your email Reason Please note we will not accept reports with HTML tags or URLs in them.
