THE first Abersychan Spring Festival will take place between May 18 and 24 to celebrate everything the district has to offer.

The week will include picnics, sculptures, heritage walks and a scarecrow competition, with a fun day on May 24, 11am-4pm.

The fun day will include a motorcycle show, gundog display, live music, a bouncy castle, bucking bronco, a climbing wall and a bake-off at the Garndiffaith Millennium Hall.

There will also be a district-wide scarecrow contest, with everyone in Abersychan being encouraged to make their own scarecrow.

The festival week aims to encourage people to explore some of the great outdoor spaces in the area.

Torfaen council has recently enhanced to outdoor spaces including Garndiffaith Millennium Hall.
