NEWBORN baby Hallie-Rose will never forget her ‘inspirational’ mum despite the fact that she tragically died just days after giving birth to her.

The first child of Caroline Howarth, who died on May 10, is said to be doing ‘fantastically’ well at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport where she is under the care of her family.

Now Mrs Howarth's husband, Lee, has said his wife will be his daughter’s inspiration as she grows up.

Paying tribute to his wife Mr Howarth said that Caroline was a person who had a lot of principles and knowledge in life, which she had passed on to him, and that he in turn, would pass on to his daughter.

“She has given me stability in my life,” he said.

“From the bottom of my heart I am going to miss her so deeply.

"I am going to stand strong, as firm as a rock, and bring up my baby daughter [with Caroline] as her inspiration.”

Mr Howarth added that his daughter Hallie-Rose was doing 'fantastically' well and that she looked exactly like her mother.

Caroline Howarth, 24, from Pontypool, was admitted to the Royal Gwent Hospital on May 6, suffering from chest pains caused by a chest infection.

Mrs Howarth was known to suffer from brittle asthma and had history of heart problems, but had recently been cleared of any potential concern over her heart by Bristol Royal Infirmary.

But in the early hours of Thursday morning, she suffered a severe asthma attack that inhibited her breathing and that coupled with an already decreased level of oxygen in her blood, caused her to go into cardiac arrest during an emergency caesarean section to deliver the baby.

Mrs Howarth gave birth to a healthy baby girl, named Hallie-Rose on May 8, weighing 6lbs 11oz but the new mum's heart stopped for an extended amount of time in which she suffered loss of oxygen to the brain and she was placed on life support.

The family decided to allow her to pass away peacefully on May 10, just two days after the birth of her daughter, when four of her major organs were supported by machines and it became apparent that there would be lasting damage to the brain.

On Tuesday her mother Marilyn Brooks issued the following tribute to her daughter: “Even though this has happened Caroline would be over the moon to see that her daughter has had a better start in life than she had herself.”

Mrs Howarth never got to see her child, who is under the care of her family.

Meanwhile tributes from friends have continued to pour in via the Facebook group ‘RIP Caroline Howarth’ with one friend posting: “Very tragic news of such a wonderful amazing beautiful young lady "Caroline". I have known Lee for years and he has been through so much, in previous years he lost his lovely young mum whom I was good friends with, and now his precious beautiful wife.

"Lee I know you were so happy as soon as you met lovely Caroline, we are so heartbroken for you and your beautiful baby girl. Now I'm sure your mum will be looking after Caroline, and is very proud of you Lee, they will together be watching you and baby. You will get through this X Sleep Peacefully Caroline X”
