AN ABERSYCHAN butcher must pay £1,470 after rodent droppings were found in his shop.
Newport magistrates heard that a Torfaen environmental health officer inspected Wayne Randell Butchers at Broad Street, Abersychan.
The officer noted evidence of rodent droppings and the premises were dirty.
Wayne Randell pleaded guilty to not keeping the premises clean, failing to adequately control pests, failing to protect food from a risk of contamination and failing to properly implement the businesses food safety management system.
Magistrates fined Randell’s Butchers Limited £1,000 and ordered it to pay £350 costs and a victim surcharge of £120, making £1,470 in all.
