SERVICE users and staff at a Chepstow centre for adults with learning disabilities transformed the site into an Alice in Wonderland-themed Mad Hatter’s tea party.

The Chepstow and district branch of the Mencap Society, based at The Berkeley on Station Road, hosted the party for parents and carers as part of National Carer’s Week.

Staff donned top hats and created tea cup decorations before treating visitors to an afternoon of tea and cakes, which included a three-tiered-themed cake.

Care manager, Angie Hawkins said: “We held the party to recognise the support of parents and carers of our users who worked very hard to make decorations and put on a fabulous afternoon tea".

“It was one of many events held by the society across Monmouthshire to mark National Carer’s Week and gave parents and carers the chance to meet others and for us to recognise their support.”

The Berkeley enables service users to access activities and clubs, such as swimming, cooking, gardening and animal care, in a safe and friendly environment.
