AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy was airlifted to hospital following a road collision in Portskewett yesterday.

The boy was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales and two adults were boarded and taken by ambulance to the Royal Gwent Hospital. Three children with minor injuries were also given a precautionary check-up at the scene.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.13pm yesterday, Sunday 21 September, to a two-vehicle road traffic collision in the Portskewett area of Caldicot. We responded with two Rapid Response Vehicles, a BASICS doctor, two Emergency Ambulances, a Wales Air Ambulance and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response team.”

Fire crews from Caldicot, Malpas and Chepstow attended the scene at 1.06pm yesterday and assisted paramedics at the scene. No person was trapped and fire crews made the vehicles safe and left the scene at 1.27pm.

SEVEN people were injured after a crash involving two vehicles on the A48 near Caldicot.

The incident happened on the Crick to Parkwall roundabout stretch at 1.06pm yesterday and a firecrew from Caldicot attended.
