ROADWORKS in Monmouthshire will be suspended to allow remembrance parades and service to be held without disruption.
Monmouthshire council has arranged for scheduled public works to be suspended for the entire day on November 9 and 11.
Council Leader Peter Fox said: “The embargo on works in Monmouthshire on Remembrance Sunday will be in position all day unless there are very good reasons for us to relax it.”
“Should we allow any work to proceed I have been assured that this will not affect the acts of remembrance or parades in any way. It is of the utmost importance that we show respect to the memories of those that gave their lives while serving their country.”
While the council accepts that necessary emergency operations must be undertaken it has issued a ban on work between 10:30am (10:15am in Chepstow) and 11:30am on both days to avoid noise or disruption while parades take place.
