A MONMOUTHSHIRE estate will open its gardens for charity to hold a ‘pop-up garden festival.’

The three-day event will see the private gardens at Llanover House, near Abergavenny, become a hub of horticultural activity to raise funds for the Maggie’s charity which offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends.

The charity is fundraising to open a second centre in Wales built alongside the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

The Pop-Up Garden Festival with a difference will be hosted by the estate’s owners Elizabeth and Ross Murray and takes place between September 11 and 13.

RHS Gold medallist, Cleve West, who has designed the gardens which will surround the planned new Maggie’s Centre in Cardiff, will be there with a host of horticultural stars.

Mrs Murray said: “We hope that our garden, as well as displaying the beautiful colours of autumn, will be alive and buzzing with activity as our special garden presenters enthusiastically share their gardening expertise in talks or workshops.”

Tickets for day entry to the gardens will be £8 and hour-long sessions with the guest gardeners will be an additional £8 each.
