TWO schools in Monmouthshire have been ranked at the lowest level as part of a new colour coded rating system for Wales’ schools.

The new model, which was unveiled by education minister Huw Lewis last September, replaces the previous banding system. Schools are now rated as red if they are at the bottom, rising up through amber, yellow and green if they are at the top.

Llanfair Kilgeddin Church in Wales V.A. Primary School in Abergavenny, and Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin in Caldicot were also given the lowest rating.
