VISITSCOTLAND.COM, the country's tourism booking and information service, has made two senior appointments to its management team. Stuart Christie has been appointed finance director and Alison Kenny, pictured, has become operations director.
Christie, who has 15 years financial management experience, joins from Aquados, the Scottish laundry detergent maker, where he was financial director. Kenny joins from Edinburgh technology start-up company APX, where she was managing director and led the company to the award of Scottish Enterprise start-up of the year for 2004. Prior to that, she worked throughout the UK and Europe in operational and IT posts, including stints at BSkyB and Gallaher International.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.

We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
