ONE of Scotland's largest legal firms has claimed that up to

one-in-three Scots are receiving less than their entitlement in social

security benefits. The benefits adviser with Ross Harper and Murphy, Mr

George Lochrie, said yesterday that in some cases the deficits run into

thousands of pounds. The findings are the result of a detailed study of

benefits claimed by the firm's clients who apply for legal aid. Mr

Lochrie said: ''Scots are losing out on hundreds of millions of pounds

because the maze of rules for claimants is mind-boggling.''
