A YOUTH who killed his victim with a single blow was admonished

yesterday after being told he would have to live with the tragic

consequences of his actions for the rest of his life.

When Craig Gibson, 17, first appeared at the High Court in Glasgow, he

admitted the culpable homicide of Alan Keith.

He punched Mr Keith on the head in Whinfield Road, Nitshill, Glasgow

on May 18 last year. Mr Keith, of Parkhouse Road, Nitshill, was knocked

to the ground, sustaining such serious injuries that he died three days

later in hospital.

Lord Prosser deferred sentence until yesterday at the High Court in

Edinburgh.

Mr John Watt, defence counsel said: ''The circumstances of the case

are tragic. There was one punch which caused the deceased to fall to the

ground and strike his head.''

Gibson, of Glenlora Terrace, Nitshill, would have to live with the

consequences for the rest of his life. ''He says himself he will never

get over it.''

Lord Prosser told Gibson that if he had come to the attention of the

police for even minor violence during the past year he would have taken

a different course of action.

Given the unusual nature of the case and the difference between the

blow struck and the tragic results, he felt he could admonish Gibson.
