POLICE are treating as wilful two separate fires which caused

extensive damage to discotheques early yesterday. The fires were at

Whispers disco, Main Street, Harthill, Lanarkshire, and the Cotton Club

disco, Maxwelton Street, Paisley. No-one was injured in the fires.

Firemen from Shotts, Motherwell, Hamilton, and Lothian and Borders

tackled the Harthill fire, which took about four hours to extinguish.

Meanwhile, investigations are continuing into a fire which police

believe was started wilfully in a listed building in West George Street,

Glasgow, last month. The B-listed premises had been home to the Talk of

the Town Disco.
