GEORGETOWN: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were yesterday continuing

their eight-nation tour of the Caribbean in Guyana, South America, where

they visited a remote Amerindian village and a church mission. Their

visit recognised at the highest level the restoration of democracy in

Guyana after elections in October 1992. They had flown to the capital

Georgetown after a two-day visit to Guyana and a brief stopover on

Dominica, which enabled the Queen to meet Prime Minister Dame Eugenia

Charles, a close friend of Lady Thatcher. Today the Queen will address

the Guyanese Parliament before flying on to Belize.
