DICK ADVOCAAT still has one eye on a possible final showdown with former club Rangers in the Uefa Cup Final in Manchester.

The Dutchman was delighted after his Zenit St Petersburg side ground out a 1-1 away draw against tournament favourites Bayern Munich.

The Dutch coach said: "I'm very pleased with the way we played in the second half. In the first 30 minutes Bayern created many chances. I don't know why but we were nervous."

The Germans went ahead in the first half after a penalty was awarded against former Rangers player Fernando Ricksen and French star Franck Ribery slotted home at the second attempt.

But the tie was levelled when a cross from Viktor Fayzulin deflected off Brazilian defender Lucio past Oliver Kahn.

Advocaat, though, is counting the cost of losing three players for next week's return through suspension, including Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin, voted the league's top player last season.

But he is confident the uneven quality of the turf in St Petersburg could give his team an edge against Bayern.

Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was disappointed about the second half own goal, but was still backing his men to go through to the May 14 final. Bayern also had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Spanish side Getafe in the quarter-finals before advancing thanks to a 3-3 away result.

"We're not at all satisfied with the result," he said, adding goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, substituted midway through the second half, had suffered a pinched nerve in his neck while striker Miroslav Klose had sustained a broken nose.

"We created a lot of chances. We're as strong away as we are at home. I'm still very optimistic we can reach the final."
