THE grouse shooting season kicks off on the glorious 12th of August and today's picture shows a timely delivery being made.

It was the first grouse to arrive in Glasgow at the Central Station Hotel back in 1928.

The delivery was made by motorbike, all the way from Ardoch Shooting Box near Gleneagles.

The chef gratefully accepts the delivery and there are a few interested onlookers in the background.

Visitors to the Central Station hotel that night would have be in for a special culinary treat.

Now called the Quality Central Hotel, it first opened its doors to customers in 1883.
