A new arrival from Spain soon causes trouble when she becomes favourite of Green and the other girls, much to the displeasure of the head girl (Juno Temple).
In a world of storytelling and midnight swims, Green is a bit of a fantasist, but her motives remain unclear and more than half the film passes before we get a picture of the central plot. She may well be a psycho but it’s explored so haphazardly that it utterly fails to generate the sense of unease necessary. What should be queasy is instead distant and aloof.
