More than 120 people had a “mice” time at a charity fundraiser.
The Friends of Gosfield Community Primary School arranged a mouse racing event on Saturday to raise money for the school and the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice - the charity chosen by the children.
PTA member Sandy Abley said: “The children were delighted when the mice arrived and there were quite a few shrieks.
“Our lovely "mouse man" began the fun by auctioning off the racing mice to the audience.
“It was a little like Newmarket and we were astonished at the bidding wars with most "racers" going for between £28 and £50 - even children were involved in the bidding.
“Each mouse owner got to name their mouse and Malcolm and Sooty were unlikely choices.
“There was great excitement when the racing started and everyone cheered Sammy to first victory.”
Five more races took place before the final - won by the Jedi-Mouster by a whisker.
The winnning owners received a cheesboard and there were white chocolate mice for everyone.
Overall, £976 was raised, including a £150 doantion from The Transporter and some of the profits from Bentley’s Catering who were at the event.
