Born and bred Abbots Langley woman Liz Kendall is in the running to become Labour leader.
The 43-year-old shadow health minister, who went to Abbots Langley JMI before attending Watford Grammar School for Girls, has been tipped as one of the main contenders to lead the party following Ed Miliband’s resignation last week.
Miss Kendall was made MP for Leicester West in 2010, after having worked as Director of the Ambulance Service Network, working at the Maternity Alliance charity as a researcher for the King’s Fund, and as director for health, social care and children’s early years at the Institute for Public Policy Research think tank.
She was also a special adviser to two cabinet members, Patricia Hewitt and Harriet Harman.
Miss Kendall’s father, Richard, was the first Liberal councillor in Abbots Langley in 1979, and both her parents were very active in the village.
Her partner is Inbetweeners star Greg Davies, who was spotted filming in Abbots Langley High Street in December last year.
