THE funeral of a man who died less than a month after his partner was killed in a fire, will be held this week.
David Paul Fields of Cwmbran, died suddenly on June 17 just weeks after his fiancé, Sam Thomas, 29, died in a blaze in a first-floor flat on Shakespeare Road on May 19.
Mr Fields survived the blaze and was treated for smoke inhalation but was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport last month after choking on some food, his daughter Laura Fields told the Argus.
Mr Fields died at the hospital, Newport coroners’ office, confirmed on June 23.
A coroners’ office spokesman said they were unclear about the circumstances surrounding his passing and no inquest had opened yet.
The spokesman added a post-mortem examination had yet to be carried out.
His funeral will be held on July 7 at 1pm at the Gwent Crematorium. Flowers and enquiries should be directed to Peterson Funeral Home, Maendy Way, Cwmbran or by calling; 01633 483127.
