A 79-YEAR-OLD woman had her bank cards stolen after she was distracted by two men asking for directions in the car park of Cwmbran Sainsbury's.

The incident happened on on Saturday August 1st, and police believe the woman was watched inside the store and then followed outside where she was distracted by two men asking for directions before realising two bank cards had been stolen. The cards were later used to withdraw £500 from cashpoints nearby.

This is the fifth such offence in recent months in the Gwent Force area, with the victims mostly elderly. If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to call 101 quoting log number 262 1/8/15.

Police want shoppers to be vigilant as they may well be unaware they have been a victim until much later once they realise their bank card is missing. They are also urging residents to pass on advice to older family members to urge them to be vigilant while out shopping.
