AN award-winning director will see his debut feature film released on Sunday.

Keri Collins, of Portskewett, won a Bafta Cymru breakthrough award last year for his debut feature film 'Convenience', filmed in 2012.

The film stars former Eastenders actor Ray Panthaki, Adeel Akhtar and ‘This is England’ star Vicky McClure.

The farcical comedy tells the story of two would-be criminals who attempt to rob a petrol station to clear a debt owed to mobsters, but wind up working a night shift instead.

The 37 year-old former Newport film school student said the low-budget film was shot on location in Gorseinon, Swansea in four weeks with a cast of twenty, including cameo’s from Anthony Head and Verne Troyer.

The father-of-two said the film has been screened at several festivals and has won wide-acclaim.

“It’s been incredible.”

“The cast and crew worked really hard shooting at night. It was a labour of love so it was fantastic to hear the reviews which have been great.”

Convenience will be released in Showcase cinemas in Cardiff andBristol on Sunday with a special Bafta screening at Chapter Cinema, Cardiff on October 7.

The film will then be on iTunes, Sky Store and Amazon from October 5.
