HENS and a cockerel were rescued from a Caldicot garage roof.
RSPCA officers were called to Park Road after the four hens and the cockerel were spotted about eight feet off the ground on Thursday.
RSPCA animal welfare officer (AWO) Sian Burton and animal collection officer (ACO) Stephanie Davidson collected the animals, which were uninjured.
They are now in RSPCA care.
AWO Burton used a ladder to get to them and brought them down.
ACO Davidson said: “We’re not quite sure why they were there.
“We suspect they may have been abandoned, but they could also have easily escaped from somewhere and gone on a little adventure.”
Anyone who might know anything about the bird is asked to contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
