A CHEPSTOW woman celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends yesterday.

Centenarian Elsie Isaacs was born in 1916 in Sudbrook, where she lived until recently.

Ms Isaacs, who is a resident of St Anne’s nursing home in Welsh Street in Chepstow, celebrated with a tea party at the home yesterday, Tuesday, April 19.

It was organised by her nephew, Lyn Isaacs, and members of her family and friends joined in the celebrations.

Brian Hadley, director of the care home, said: “She was in high spirits and really enjoyed receiving her congratulations from the Queen.

“She’s a fantastic lady and her birthday was really enjoyable for everybody.”

On Monday, Ms Isaacs also returned to Sudbrook where she met old friends.

Mr Hadley added: “She reminisced with her old gardening pals on a visit back to her birthplace.”
