AFTER a run of weather more akin to February with wintry showers by day, frost and ice by night, the Bank Holiday sees some improvement, but not much.

We can expect a mix of sunshine and showers across the holiday, with Saturday looking the best of the three days, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, looking unsettled.

That said, the latter two days shouldn't be totally ruined, with some decent lengthy drier spells in the mix.

Temperatures will slowly edge up, as the winds turn away from the biting northerly airflow of late, to a more south westerly flow.

Into May itself, and temperatures will continue to improve by day, with an end to the cold snap by the second week of May.
