Penarth assembly member Vaughan Gething has been re-elected.
He won a majority of 6,921 with 13,274 votes as the announcement was made after 5.30am on Friday, May 6.
Ben Gray of the Conservatives finished second on 6,353 with Dafydd Trystan Davies of Plaid Cymru finishing third with 4,320.
Hugh Hughes of UKIP got 3,716 votes with Nigel Howells of the Liberal Democrats 1,345 and Anthony Slaughter 1,268
The turnout for the Cardiff South and Penarth constituency was 30,480 which is 40.05 per cent.
Mr Gething thanked the volunteers who helped him during his campaign.
He said: "I thank the people of the constituency for renewing their faith in me and the party.
"I am proud to represent Cardiff South and Penarth."
