THE ex-girlfriend of a millionaire who owned a large property near Chepstow has been found guilty of his murder.

Slovakian model Mayka Kukucova had previously said she “never meant to hurt” Andrew Bush when she shot him twice in the head during a struggle at his home near Marbella on the Costa del Sol in April 2014.

But the 26-year-old was found guilty of his murder at a court in Spain on Friday, May 27, and has been warned she could face up to 25 years in jail.

Mr Bush, who was 48 when he died, made his fortune through his Bristol-based jewellery business and included in his property portfolio a five-bedroom house in Pwllmeyric, south of Chepstow.

Kuckucova had previously told Spanish police her ex-boyfriend had died in a struggle on April 4, 2014, when he returned home unexpectedly from a trip to the UK when she was at his house collecting her things.

She claimed she acted in self-defence and broke down in tears when pictures of his body were shown in court.

Mr Bush had previously been married to former BBC presenter Sam Mason and the two had a daughter together, Ellie, now aged 21.

He met Kukucova when she worked in his shop and the pair were together for two-and-a-half years. But the relationship ended around six months before Mr Bush was killed.

He was known for being a car enthusiast and Kukucova had made off in his Hummer on the night he died, before handing herself into the Slovakian authorities days later.

She did not enter a formal plea and prosecutors are seeking a sentence of up to 25 years.

Mr Bush's sister, Rachel, who gave evidence during the trial, said: "Unless someone has had someone close to them be murdered, they cannot understand how it feels.

"It was very hard to see Kukucova there in court, telling those lies."

Ellie Mason-Bush made a tearful tribute to her father, saying "He was my only parent growing up. He was the only person that I had."

She said that even though he and Kukucova had split up, "he was still supporting her and still wanted to help her".

Mr Bush girlfriend at the time of his murder Maria Korotaeva was sitting in his Hummer waiting for him as he was being killed.

Giving her account of the night, she told the court: "I never imagined what was happening.

"Andy had never said anything bad about her, just that he couldn't be with her anymore."
