A RESIDENT at a Blaenavon Care Home celebrated her 100th birthday with two parties.
Centenarian Edith Gould, of Pontypool, had a party with family and friends at Garndiffaith Rugby Club, and is carrying on the celebrations at her care home today.
Mrs Gould, who now lives in the Arthur Jenkins home, was born in 1916 in Talywain.
She has four children, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and was married to her husband Elijah for 63 years.
When granddaughter Alisa asked Mrs Gould what her secret to living to 100 was, Mrs Gould said it was “sheer luck” and that she made all her own jam, cakes, and cooked from scratch frequently.
Her granddaughter Alisa Jones, 47, describes her as a very kind, loving and heart-warming woman.
