A SERIAL author who traded South Wales for the sandy shores of Florida, will return to his home town to sell his latest book.

Former salesman and engineer, Lyn Clarke,76, left Pontypool in 1976 to forge a career in the USA and has penned over 20 books, including a trilogy about his early years growing up in Wales.

Today the author will have a stall in Pontypool Indoor Market to showcase his latest title, "Amazing States: A Welshman’s Odyssey in America".

As his fourth autobiographical offering, the book takes the reader from Lyn’s “old stomping ground” of Wales to the United States, chronicling the humorous stories and experiences that defined him.

According to the Pontypool-born author the book is not a travelogue and draws from experiences that he had while working in the states.

“A lot of people that I meet say they have always wanted to go to America so that was what inspired me to write it because I have travelled a lot through my sales job,” he said.

“I have self-published all my books and set up my own publishing company to release them when I feel like it.”

Mr Clarke’s new book and several of his older titles will be available on the day.

Speaking about his latest release, he added: “It’s light hearted and easy to read stuff and I do tend to see the funny side in things and make sure I include that in all my stories.”
