A THIRTY-seven-year-old man from Monmouth has been jailed and banned from entering some areas of the town for "terrorising" residents.
Marc Smith, of no fixed abode and who had been living in a derelict factory off Hadnock Road in Monmouth, was found guilty in Newport Magistrates Court of two breaches of a restraining order.
He attended court and received a 56 day custodial sentence and a five year Criminal Behaviour Order.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "The order means he will not be able to enter certain areas in Monmouth including Riverside Park and Hadnock Road for five years.
"The reason behind the order is that the man was the subject of multiple calls to both police and fire service over the past three months - where he was living in a derelict factory off Hadnock Road in Monmouth and terrorising the residents of Riverside Park close by.
"This result shows the true determination of officers in Monmouthshire, who are committed to tackling individuals who are causing upset, annoyance and alarm in the community."
