A CHARITY fight night will take place this weekend in aid of a fund aiming to help a disabled Cwmbran teenager to talk.

The GoFundMe page ‘Help Megan Talk’ was set up by the family of Megan Martin, 19, of Coed Eva, who was born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy – both conditions which affect her ability to communicate.

Following a similar event earlier this year, Goode’s Fitness gym, in Cwmbran, is hosting a boxing night to raise money for Megan’s appeal, which now stands at over £6,000.

The event will take place at Pontypool Active Living Centre on Saturday, and proceeds will also be split with ‘Make a Wish’ charity.

Her sister, Kylie, and brother, Ryan, came up with the idea to help Megan and said they hope the fundraising will support her with further language therapy sessions.

Ryan’s fought at one of the gym’s amateur ‘white collar’ fundraising events earlier this year, which led owners Jayne and Rob Goode to offer their support to the family.

Kylie said: “Megan is doing fantastic since leaving school she now goes to a day centre called ‘Ty Nant’ and is coming on leaps and bounds.

“We’re all excited at what the future might bring for us and we still can’t believe how many generous, amazing, caring and selfless people there are in the world.”

“It has brought us closer together as a family and gave us so much hope for the future,” she added.

“Goodes Gym have been absolutely amazing throughout and we cannot thank them enough”

The event will take place between 5pm-9pm.

Guests are advised to dress smartly.

Tickets are £20 and these can be bought from Goodes Fitness.
