A NEW car park has opened in Monmouth, offering free parking for visitors.
The Rockfield Road car park was officially opened by Monmouthshire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for community development, Phil Hobson, last week.
The car park can accommodate 100 vehicles and will provide extra capacity for people visiting the town’s shops and tourist attractions.
Cllr Hobson said: “Monmouth is a busy shopping centre and draws walkers and other people to its many attractions so consequently its car parks are frequently over-subscribed.
“The new Rockfield Road car park will create further capacity thus aiding local businesses in line with one of the council’s major priorities of supporting enterprise and job creation.”
The car park was constructed by the council’s highway operations team.
