Cheltenham Saracens 0

Fairford Town 17

FAIRFORD Town registered a club record 17-0 win over strugglers Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday afternoon.

Lee Smith hit four in a victory that saw two other visiting players score hat-tricks against a side who have had a torrid season due to drastic management and player changes – but have always kept going until the end and played the game in the correct spirit.

The opener arrived after just three minutes with Josh Morse finding the back of the net before Levi Cox doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Sam Ockwell scored straight from a corner on 18 minutes before Jason Milhench was denied by a superb stop. Milhench then found the back of the net on the half-hour mark for the fourth goal with Nathan Blackford scoring the fifth on 36 minutes.

Defender Ben Saunders hit Fairford's sixth and that's how it stayed until the second period, which saw an incredible 11 goals scored.

Milhench made it seven on 49 minutes with Cox then grabbing his second of the game and Ockwell also completed his brace on 53. Cox rounded off his hat-trick on 55 minutes and then made way for Dan Drewett.

Lee Smith scored the 11th on the hour mark with further substitutions following as Chris Jackson and Luke Cordery replaced Saunders and Matt Boucher.

Milhench then joined the hat-trick ranks on 66 minutes to make it 12-0 with Smith adding his second on 67 minutes. Smith went on to become the third player to score a hat-trick in the game with the away side's 14th goal.

Defender Scott Chilcott made it 16-0 with two goals in three minutes (75 and 77).

The final goal of the fixture arrived with Smith netting his fourth in the last few minutes.

Fairford now host Henley Town at Cinder Lane on Tuesday evening in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup (7.45pm).
