A CLASSICAL star has confirmed a performance date in Torfaen later this year.

Double platinum-selling classical singer, Rhydian Roberts, will play the Blaenavon Workman’s Hall on Saturday, March 11.

The singer shot to fame on ITV’s X Factor and has since risen to international stardom.

It’s also Rhydian’s second time performing in Blaenavon –following a performance to sell-out crowds at the Blaenavon Ironworks in 2010 to mark the centenary of the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir.

The choir will who support him again for an evening of classical hits from his most recent album Carry the Fire as well as some of the classics he has become known for across the world.

Rhydian Roberts said: “I had a fantastic time the last time I came to Blaenavon and everyone made me feel so welcome.

“I have a real passion for Welsh male voice choirs and I am delighted that the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir can come and support me for the evening.”

The chair of the Blaenavon World Heritage Committee, Gareth Davies, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rhydian back to Blaenavon.

“It promises to be a great evening and I hope to see as many people there as possible to help us raise funds to support Blaenavon World Heritage Day.”
