A FUNDING appeal has been launched by a Torfaen-based film company to help develop a horror thriller.

Earlier this month, Cwmbran-based film company Paintbox Media revealed a GoFundMe page to raise funds for short film “Killer Experiment”.

The film — written by Sarah Mills—follows horror fans who decide to make a film, abducting a girl as an experiment to see how long it takes for anyone to notice she is gone.

As the one of the fans begins to enjoy the power he has over his abducted victim, the film takes a dark turn, exploring themes of personal safety in a narrative packed with twists and turns.

The film will be directed/produced by Paintbox Media CEO, Sally Martin, who scooped Best Welsh Short at the Carmarthen Film Festival in 2012 for her film Girl, Abducted.

Looking forward to Killer Experiment, she said: “The Gofundme is primarily to assist with travel, location costs and lunches as cast and crew are giving up their time for free to work on this project.

“We will be filming within the Torfaen area and local support would be gratefully appreciated.”

She added: “Once the film is finished it’s going into festivals and competitions, the script is tight and I really have high hopes for it.”

The film is looking to raise £1,000 to help with production costs and locations and has already raised £200 towards its target.

Paintbox Media is a multimedia company covering film, photography, training and entertainment and operates from Cwmbran and a studio in Caldicot.

The filmmakers plan to start shooting in May in the Torfaen area.
