GWENT Police have confirmed that no further action will be taken following the confirmation that the body found in Wentwood reservoir was that of murdered Gwent woman Sandie Bowen.

Mrs Bowen' daughter said they are going to hold a funeral for Mrs Bowen and that she just wants to put her mum to rest.

A spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that consultation has taken place with the CPS and no further action will be taken".

In June 1998, her husband, Michael Bowen, was charged and later convicted of the murder of his wife, despite her body not being found.

Bowen later admitted responsibility for the Llandogo woman's death in 2002, but refused to reveal where her body had been dumped.

Mrs Bowen's daughter Anita Giles said: "There isn't anything they can charge him with, it is not going to change anything.

"I just want this to be over, I have my mum now and I just want to be able to lay her to rest.

"I can't keep this going for any longer, 20 years is a long time to grieve.

"I just want to get the funeral done when they release the body and have some peace.

"I am exhausted."
