A MOTHER and son took part in a fancy dress walk across the Severn Bridge last weekend to raise money for Red Nose Day.
On Sunday, Catherine Mayo, and her son Jayden, of Caldicot, set off on the charity walk across the bridge, with the pair raising £375 for the charity.
The duo, aged 33 and 8, also turned heads as they crossed the bridge due to their colourful costume choices - an Oompa Loompa from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and videogame character, Super Mario.
Miss Mayo said that the idea came from her son, a pupil at Ysgol Y Ffin, as they watched a Comic Relief appeal on TV.
She added: “For me it was definitely something different, but my son absolutely loved it. It was all a bit of fun and for a good cause so I’d probably do it again.”
Comic Relief is a UK charity which aims to tackle poverty and since 1985, it has raised over £1 billion. This year, the charity raised over £73million so far from its live TV appeal for public donations.
